Senior Athlete Spotlight: Brock Case, Lakeside High School
This fall I’m beginning a new series called The Senior Athlete Spotlight.
My goal is to highlight seniors who stand out not only for their stats,
but for their growth, their character, and the moments that make their
stories worth remembering.
The first spotlight belongs to Brock Case, a senior at Lakeside High School.
I first noticed Brock two seasons ago when Lakeside faced Plain Dealing. At the time, I didn’t even realize he was only a sophomore. What caught my eye wasn’t just the way he threw the ball, it was how he carried himself. He had a strong arm and stood in the pocket with fearlessness, never flinching even when the pressure was closing in. He was quick on his feet, moving with practiced fluidity and patience, the kind of composure you expect from an experienced upperclassman. To see that level of confidence from a sophomore made me take notice right away.
Since then, I’ve had the privilege of photographing Brock multiple times, on the football field, on the baseball diamond. I hope to capture more of his story this year, including his senior portraits, just as I did for his brother Jordan. Every time I’ve worked with Brock and his family, I’ve walked away impressed. His parents are incredibly supportive, and both he and Jordan carry themselves with a level of politeness and respect that speaks volumes about how they were raised.
As a quarterback, Brock’s style is more calm and strategic than flashy. He doesn’t let emotions run wild, instead, he leads with steadiness, composure, and quiet confidence. Over the past couple of seasons, I’ve seen him make big plays, clutch throws, and handle high pressure moments with poise. He has that rare ability to read the game, adjust in real time, and execute when it matters most. It’s the kind of presence you want in the huddle, and it’s why I expect nothing but the best from him this senior season.
Baseball brings out another side of him. While I haven’t photographed him yet in a live game as catcher, I’ve seen glimpses of how natural he looks behind the plate during photo sessions. I’ll never forget when we set up for catcher shots, the way he popped up with speed and authenticity, the kind of movement that comes from muscle memory, not posing. Later, when we photographed him sliding down for an outfield catch, that same authenticity came through. It wasn’t staged, it was Brock being Brock, and it showed in the final images.
That’s the thing about Brock: he doesn’t just “pose” as an athlete. He is one. Whether it’s football or baseball, quarterback or catcher, he thrives in positions that demand vision, responsibility, and leadership. Those roles aren’t about personal glory, they’re about setting the tone for the entire team. And while I can’t speak to what kind of leader he is in the locker room, what I see from behind the lens is an athlete who commands respect through the way he plays the game.
What stands out most to me is the growth. I still remember that fearless sophomore with the strong arm and the poise in the pocket. Now I see a seasoned senior, still calm, still strategic, but with added experience and maturity. Photographing him now feels like capturing the culmination of years of hard work, discipline, and determination.
For his family, his teammates, and his community, I hope these portraits spark feelings of love, pride, admiration, and joy. Because senior year isn’t just about the games played, it’s about legacy. It’s about remembering the journey, the progress, and the character that emerges along the way.
Here’s to a big season for Brock Case, quarterback, catcher, teammate, and leader. I can’t wait to see where his senior year takes him, both on the field and beyond.
